Selfless.
Such a term of endearment.
An accolade.
A Valiant goal.
A purpose even.
It has always felt like an odd phrase to me.
Selfless reads more to, lose yourself. Rather than to give of your self.
To have less of yourself in exchange for something else.
Do you not think we have to be selfish, before we can be selfless.
How can we give of ourselves if we do not first know ourselves?
How can we be selfless, if our self care is not strong enough for us to step away from ourselves and still find our way back.
Selfishness for a time is required for self care.
Self care is required to be selfless.
We require a focus on ourselves to enable care for others.
